Dental Xray's - Getting to the root of the issue

The canine or feline tooth is an anatomical wonder. The smooth white enamel surface that coats the crown of the tooth protects the softer inner lining of the pulp cavity from harm. Then there is the marvellous root structure; the glue that holds our precious teeth in place in the gum socket. In most teeth the root can be the same length or longer than the crown itself, some teeth can have two or up to three roots! With such an important role in maintaining dental integrity the hard working (and some could say under appreciated) tooth root requires just as much analysis and attention as the much more obvious and bold tooth crown. Dental xray's provide evidence of how a tooth is functioning below the gum line. They can be used to help decide whether a tooth is extracted or whether it can be saved, what is healthy and what is riddled in disease. Would you risk not knowing what lies beneath the surface?
