Written by Kirstie (Veterinary Nurse)
Dusty was my friend. I was his nurse for his neuter. I filmed him for the cattery video every time he stayed with us. I looked after him at my house over Christmas time and he fell asleep on my couch. I loved Dusty.
Last week, his mum came into the clinic holding a towel. She was upset and crying. It took my brain a second to click that she was holding Dusty.
Unfortunately Dusty had passed away the previous night. Tears were shed between his mum and me but finally I came to grips. Dusty’s death was unknown, a bit of bruising around his chest but otherwise a seemingly unscathed cat. Further investigation revealed that Dusty has passed away from dog bite wounds.
At only eleven months old, Dusty was far too young to leave his family at home and his family at the clinic. I miss him very much and hope he has a peaceful sleep.
Goodbye Dusty, you crazy kitten
