We believe 6-monthly checks are the best way for early detection and better treatment of any condition. Many health issues change rapidly over 6 months = 3 years in pet years!

Vaccinations are very important and prevent a multitude of life-threatening or debilitating diseases. We tailor our vaccine protocols to each individual pet’s risk and lifestyle requirements.

To give full immunity kittens & puppies are vaccinated at the following ages:

• 6 – 8 weeks
• 10 – 12 weeks
• 14 – 16 weeks

To maintain this immunity, cats and dogs must be vaccinated every 12 months.

Cat Vaccinations help prevent:

• Feline panleucopaenia (infectious enteritis)
• Feline herpesvirus
• Feline calicivirus
• Optional feline immunity deficiency virus (FIV)

Dog vaccinations help prevent:

• Distemper virus
• Infectious canine hepatitis
• Canine parainfluenza virus
• Canine parvoviral enteritis
• Bordetella bronchiseptica
• Leptospirosis (zoonotic disease – can be spread between animal and human).

Pets are considered senior at 7+ years old and need regular senior health checks. Being proactive rather than reactive is key to having a happier, healthier life with your golden oldie. Check the following: are they eating more or less? Have they lost or gained weight recently? Are they drinking more than usual? Do they need to toilet more frequently? Have their energy levels decreased? Are there changes in their behaviour?

Orthopaedic Surgery is a relatively high-risk area of work when compared to routine surgery. The field covers trauma where bones are broken or injuries are sustained. Animals must undergo general anaesthetic to be de-sexed but recovery is usually rapid and most pets go home the same day. Although this is classed as “routine surgery” it is an invasive procedure that we treat with the highest standard of care. Moving overseas with pets can sometimes involve more processes than humans, our vet is here to help you along the way. We are MPI approved for certification of dogs and cats being exported to Australia. We recommend our clients to use a registered pet exporter to help arrange the move.
